Start date: 30 August 2018
Contract type: Part Time
Salary: £22,341 - £38,131 based on the Sixth Form Colleges’ spine points 1 to 6 including PSP, if applicable
Contract term: Permanent

We wish to recruit a teacher of A Level Computer Science and/ or Information Technology.

Background to the post

This is an exciting time for the teaching of Computer Science and IT courses at Worthing College.  Computer Science A Level was launched in September 2017.  We anticipate that this will be a popular course providing opportunity for growth in future years.  Vocational IT courses offered by the team are also popular in the college.  This course is also going through a specification change and offers the opportunity to shape and develop a new approach to the teaching of vocational IT.

The staff work very closely together and the successful applicant would be expected to work flexibly and as an enthusiastic member of the Maths and Computer Science team.  Worthing College STEM Academy launched in October 2017 and the science and maths teams work together to offer many enrichment activities for students studying STEM subjects and also organise activities for local schools.

The introduction of a Foundation Degree in Business Management in September could also mean additional teaching hours in this subject for a suitably qualified teacher.  There could also be an opportunity to teach some maths so the ability and willingness to teach maths (either at level 2 or level 3), although not essential, would also be an advantage.

It is essential that the successful candidate is keen to use a variety of approaches for teaching and learning in order to appeal to a wide range of student abilities and learning styles.  Evidence of the ability to develop productive working relationships with students, a proven interest of contribution to subject based extra curricular enrichment opportunities and skills to use new technologies in teaching will be highly beneficial.
