Ambitious, forward-thinking, flexible and self-motivated?   If you can combine these attributes with excellent teaching skills, now is the unique time to join the teaching staff at Coombe Wood School.

As part of the role you will be responsible for leading and teaching our first cohort of GCSE Design & Technology 3D/Product Design students. Facilities are state of the art including a brand new workshop with both traditional and modern facilities and a computer suite with an extensive range of CAD/CAM facilities.

During this key period of natural expansion as the school increases in cohorts, we offer the opportunity to develop your career. We offer scope to advance at our vibrant and heavily oversubscribed school (1335 applications for 180 x Y7 places in September 2021), situated in £35million state-of-the-art, brand new buildings, where we took up occupancy in January 2021.

With three year groups (Y7-9) currently on role, the commencement of GCSE courses along with the opening of the CWS Sixth Form in September 2021, bring with them a variety of promotion opportunities for dedicated and ambitious staff. CWS is a school with a growing track record of rewarding outstanding performance amongst current staff via internal promotions. By becoming part of the team at Coombe Wood School, your career will benefit from joining a future-focused group of schools within Folio Education Trust, offering access to high calibre CPD, which contributes to the recognised quality of learning within our schools.

There is a strong team spirit, which has contributed to a supportive learning environment for both staff and students at Coombe Wood School. Our staff are ready to overcome unexpected challenges, break fresh ground, encourage collaboration and share excellent teaching skills within our hardworking and dedicated group.

Our Creative Arts department

The Creative Arts department comprises specialist teachers in Art, Graphic Design, Photography, 3D Design/Product Design, Fashion & Textiles and Food & Nutrition. Our brand new facilities include a kiln room, dark room, workshop and large specialist classrooms for each creative subject. In joining us you will be working as part of a strong and supportive team, where your skills and expertise will help to develop our students into innovative, independent and brave young artists and designers with a broad range of skills ready for further education and the creative industries.

We are an incredibly visible department with regular exhibitions, trips and competitions to extend and develop our students' passion for the Arts outside of the classroom. There are also opportunities to play a crucial role in developing our extra-curricular programme.

Students already show a real love for the creative subjects at Coombe Wood School. There has been a huge level of interest to study Creative Arts subjects at GCSE and extra-curricular clubs are consistently well attended. Our A-Level in Art & Design begins next academic year with a broader range of subject specialisms being offered as the school grows each year, offering you the chance to teach and develop your own area of expertise.
