The School: Situated on a spacious, leafy campus with impressive facilities, Sotogrande International School is an IB World day and boarding school offering the IB programmes throughout from PYP in our Primary School, to MYP in our Middle School and through to the IB Diploma in our Upper School.  Now in its 37th year, the school has grown steadily and enjoys a strong reputation for quality education in Spain. The student body will grow to 900 students by September 2016.  We currently are full in a number of year groups and have waiting lists. We have over 100 students studying the IB Diploma Programme in our Upper School, where academic standards are high.  The most recently graduated cohort scored an average IB Diploma score of 33 points. We are not however, just an academically focused school.  Our drive is to educate the whole child and support students to find their own passions, drives and talents.

Applications are sought from energetic, creative and innovative teachers with a recognised teaching qualification and degree (both are essential). A commitment to personalized learning in the classroom is imperative, as is a belief in continual self-improvement. Professional Development at the school is well supported, complemented by a strong internal support programme.

We are looking for flexible outstanding teachers who go above and beyond to make the learning experience for the child truly exceptional.  In return, we offer a supportive environment with outstanding staff and really motivated, supportive and down to earth students.  Experiential learning and awareness of global citizenship is core to our philosophy and with service learning drives our curriculum.  Applicants are encouraged, in their letter of application, to highlight how they would enhance our thriving boarding, extra-curricular, service and Global Citizenship programmes. Applicants should also be fluent in English, which is the language of instruction of the school.

The Post: Teacher of English and Boarding supervisor

Due to growth in students who come with a skill set in sports we are planning to develop flexible study pathway called elite sports and academics that support students to access University. We are looking for a flexible, open-minded, dynamic and dedicated English teacher to join our team from September.

The programme is structured so that teachers teach classes from 2pm – 7pm.  Boarding duties will be required twice per week as an SAT preparation time and 1 Saturday or Sunday shift every 2 weeks. As a member of the boarding team, teamwork and experience of pastoral care is key. 

As a member of the English department the teacher would be required to deliver practical, exploratory and engaging lessons to classes.  An interest in experiential learning is a must, as is a commitment to extra-curricula activities. We would like a teacher who is child centered, creative and able to make English come alive for students.  Ability to use ICT to enable effective learning is vital and experience of using blended learning to engage pupils are highly desirable. 

The successful candidate will work with the team to author work online using Ibook author to enable students to engage with learning when they visit tournaments and competitions.

Previous experience of IB Diploma English (Language and Literature) and ‘A’ level English literature is highly desirable.
