We wish to appoint a full time Teacher of English to join an outstanding department. Applications are welcome from individuals of all faiths or none, who will support the catholic ethos of our school. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of dedicated specialists who ensure that students enjoy learning and achieve excellent outcomes. A significant number of students progress to A Level English and Literature, with A Level teaching available for suitable candidates. A TLR for Literacy is available for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate.
Our oversubscribed School achieved 83% 5 A*-C including Maths and English in 2016 and the Sixth Form received an ‘outstanding’ ALP’s judgement. In our previous Ofsted inspection both ‘Behaviour & Safety’ and our Sixth Form were judged ‘outstanding’. In English we achieve consistently outstanding results – in June 2016 89% A*-C in English Language and 84% English Literature. The English Department currently has five dedicated teaching rooms, all equipped with interactive white boards. The team also includes dedicated Media and Drama teachers and classroom.

John Fisher is an oversubscribed 11-18 comprehensive school with 1155 students including 223 in the Sixth Form. We are located just outside Purley town centre and a 15 minute walk from the train station (27 minutes from London Bridge and 20 minutes from Gatwick Airport).
