Job overview
Thetford Grammar School is proud of its history as a seat of learning stretching back over 1400 years. Today, we are a 3-19 day and boarding school that achieves excellent outcomes for pupils at every stage of their education.
We gain outstanding results at GCSE and A level as a product of bright, hard-working pupils, passionate and talented staff, small class sizes and close relationships between school and home.
We require from September 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter, a qualified Teacher of German for a full-time, permanent position. The ability and willingness to teach to GCSE and A level will be essential. We are a small all-through school, and so an enthusiasm for cultivating a love of languages in young pupils will also be required.
You should be able to offer a second language, ideally French or Spanish, and be willing to contribute to the busy extracurricular life of the school.
Applications from ECTs are as warmly welcomed as those with more experience; a comprehensive programme of training and support will be in place for the successful applicant. Part-time or job-share options may be available for the right candidate.
A telephone call with the Head can be arranged prior to application.
Closing date: Noon, Friday 16th June 2023
Interviews: Week commencing 19th June 2023
The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and all successful applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate for the post, including checks with any past employer and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Thetford Grammar School is an equal opportunities employer.
About Thetford Grammar School
Thetford Grammar School is an independent co-educational day school in Thetford, Norfolk, with some 300 pupils aged from 3-19 coming from feeder schools across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
Celebrating its 900th anniversary in 2014, the school is one of the oldest in England. It was a state grammar school until it became independent in 1981. The school occupies two sites in the centre of the town. Some buildings date back to Tudor times, others are brand new,and despite being a relatively small school, it offers a wide range of facilities.
