Main Accountabilities

You will be working alongside the Head of History who leads the subject area within the faculty.  Full training and development will be offered in teaching IB courses. Prior experience of teaching IB is not a necessity and applications are welcome from those with clear experience of equivalent post 16 programmes such as A level History. You will be an excellent teacher who understands how inquiry can be promoted in learning, shows a willingness to contribute, learns from the rest of your team and excited to explore new ways of working.


  • Bachelor Degree in History, plus a recognised Postgraduate teaching qualification, or equivalent
  • Teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation
  • Teaching experience in History (and the ability to teach a second subject  preferably in the Humanities) in IB MYP, (I)GCSE and IB DP is required
  • Ability and willingness to teach IB DP Theory of Knowledge would be an advantage
  • Experience and ability to use data on student learning to modify curriculum, teaching and assessment provision
  • Ability to contribute strongly to the Individuals and Societies Department Professional Learning Teams collaboration which is focused on improving student learning
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to form positive relationships with students, staff and parents
  • Ability to lead or support extra-curricular activities as part of the whole-school CAS programme
