A vibrant and rich learning environment, with a strong Christian ethos

A dedicated, experienced and ambitious team of staff and governors

Thriving home, school, parish and community partnerships

Applications from practising Anglican or Catholic teachers are particularly welcome, although the Governors are interested to hear from teachers of other faith journeys or no faith too.

We require a 0.8fte teacher, although would be willing to appoint a suitable candidate full-time. This would be a perfect opportunity for either an experienced teacher or an NQT. This is currently a 1 Year fixed-term post, however there may well be opportunity to extend this beyond the 12 month period as we seek to introduce the new GCSE in Digital Technology (WJEC).

The school is situated in south west Wrexham, and within easy access of the M56/M6/A55, Cheshire and Shropshire,

If you would like to apply for the post, please complete the application form and a covering letter of no more than two sides of A4, outlining your experience and vision.

About St Joseph's Catholic and Anglican Secondary School

St Joseph's Catholic and Anglican High School is a co-educational, shared-faith secondary school in Wrexham, Wales. As a shared-faith school, St Joseph’s is served by the Catholic Diocese of Wrexham and the Anglican Church in Wales Diocese of St Asaph. The school has around 720 pupils aged 11-16.

St Joseph's opened in 1912 as St Joseph's Catholic Secondary Modern School, becoming a comprehensive school in 1972. Although St Joseph's only joined with the Anglican church in 2006, it has accepted non-Catholic students from at least 1978.

Values and vision

St Joseph’s asks its students to subscribe to the principles of tolerance and patience, with an explicit focus on care and understanding. The secondary school states that, although teachers do not issue long lists of school rules, students are expected to adhere to the pupil code of conduct. Copies are provided to all students at the start of the academic year.

Estyn report

Most pupils show an outstanding commitment to their school and local community through extensive charity fund raising work and community projects. Nearly all actively participate in decision-making through several representative groups and contribute their views on how and what they learn. Trained peer mentors support younger pupils to settle into school effectively.”
