Job overview

Thetford Grammar School requires a qualified Senior School Teacher of Maths ready for the start of the 2020/21 academic year.

Thetford Grammar School is a great place to teach. Small classes, bright and hard-working pupils, dedicated and talented staff, and strong relationships between school and home, combine to deliver outstanding GCSE and A level results as well as excellent pupil personal development.

With a history as a seat of learning stretching back over 1400 years, today we are a 3-19 day and boarding school that achieves excellent outcomes for pupils at every stage of education.

We would welcome applications from candidates in the state or independent sectors and at all phases of their career, including NQTs. There is a thriving, teacher-led CPD programme designed to give all colleagues access to excellent personal and career progression.

Thetford Grammar School is very proud of the Maths department, where pupils at all levels gain excellent grades. Maths and Further Maths are popular A level subjects, and the school has an excellent record of preparing pupils successfully to study Maths at Oxford and Cambridge, including in the last academic year.

The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge, strong teaching skills and the ability to gain excellent results for pupils across the age and ability spectrum. They will be capable of teaching to Year 13 with the willingness to run clubs, clinics and enrichment activities. A passionate enthusiasm for the subject and collaborative approach with an emphasis on sharing best practice within the department are also essential. Ideally, they will be able to teach Further Maths or, at least, be prepared and able to undertake the necessary training to do so.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person - if you would like to be part of Thetford Grammar School and you have the skills that we need, please contact our HR Officer via hr@thetgram.norfolk.sch.uk for further information, or to arrange an informal conversation with the Head.

Closing date: Noon, Friday 7th  February 2020 with interviews likely to be conducted week commencing 10th February. Early applications are encouraged and the school reserves the right to contact suitable candidates ahead of closing.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and all successful applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate for the post, including checks with any past employer and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Thetford Grammar School is an equal opportunities employer.
