Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful and forward thinking school.

Ratton is at an exciting phase in its development. In December 2017, we formed a multi-academy trust (MAT), the South Downs Learning Trust, with one of our partner junior schools. The vision for the new MAT is to develop outstanding provision for all children. In the longer term, there may be opportunities to work across both schools. You will be joining an innovative and successful department. Last year 84% of students achieved grades A*-C and above in GCSE PE. BTec Sport results were equally strong with 74% achieving a L2 pass or better. As a result of highly effective teaching, students in all years make excellent progress. The department takes great pride in the sporting activities it offers and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a commitment to supporting extra-curricular opportunities.  Please note that this role requires the post holder to enter the girls’ changing room and, therefore, a female teacher is required. A willingness or the ability to teach another subject is also desirable.

You will be joining an ambitious and highly supportive organisation which offers:

  • An excellent induction      programme for teachers joining the school;
  • A strong commitment to      professional development which will improve your leadership skills,      develop your understanding of whole school issues and prepare you for the      next stage in your career;
  • Motivated and enthusiastic      learners who respond very well to active and engaging teaching and work      well independently;
  • A strong team ethos across      the department and whole school.

This is an exciting post with the potential for career development as part of an ambitious and innovative school. You will:

· be able to demonstrate/incorporate the school virtues in all aspects of your work;

· need to be an innovative teacher who is able to teach across KS3 and KS4;

· be supported by the Learning Director and Lead Teacher.

If you decide to apply for this post please use the information provided and your own expertise to complete the application form together with your supporting statement (maximum of two sides A4 font 12) and return to lbarrow@ratton.co.uk at the school by the closing date.

If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Brooke, Curriculum Leader, at wbrooke@ratton.co.uk

The primary objective of our trust is to deliver an outstanding educational experience while preserving the individual identity of each school, fostering collaboration to enhance the learning environment for all learners.

Our aim is to develop a sustainable and exciting educational experience that places our learners at the centre of all that we do.

Nestled in picturesque Eastbourne, known as The Sunshine Coast, Ratton School benefits from a beautiful setting surrounded by the South Downs and breathtaking countryside. Convenient transport links, including easy access to major roads and efficient train connections, make it easily accessible from London and other parts of the country.

Benefits for Staff

Our school prides itself on providing an array of benefits for our staff, including comprehensive induction programmes, career development opportunities, mentoring by experienced leaders, access to various schemes like Bike 2 Work, an employee assistance programme, complimentary breakfast, and subsidised healthcare membership.

Commitment to Students and Community

Everything we do is centred on developing our young people to become confident, creative and caring students who achieve excellence in everything they do. Be it academically, or socially, our aim is to enable our students to grow and flourish and achieve all their potential. This means educating the whole child and giving them the skills to take the next steps on their journey when they leave us to attend further education or training, and then into the right career.

Safeguarding Notice

The South Downs Learning Trust and all our academies take notice of and adhere to all the national and local policies and guidance in regard to Safeguarding Children and Young People. We are committed to ensuring the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
