Job overview

OLA is an independent Catholic coeducational day school located just outside Oxford.  We seek a dedicated, engaging teacher for this part time role within our Senior School.  Small class sizes, excellent academic results and a warm, friendly ethos make OLA a highly attractive environment in which to teach and develop your skills.

Religious life is central to the life of OLA and the Religious Studies Department plays an important role in school liturgy, assemblies and the spiritual life of the school community.  Religious Studies is a compulsory subject to GCSE and it is necessary to have experience of teaching to this level.  Experience of teaching to A Level will be advantageous.  The position involves teaching 0.5 of a full timetable and the ideal candidate will be prepared to combine his or her teaching with a contribution to the school’s Chaplaincy work, for which an appropriate time allowance will be given.  The post holder will be committed to enhancing the spiritual and pastoral life of the school.  Applications are welcomed from both experienced teachers and NQTs.  For further information please see the attached Application Pack.

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience of teaching Religious Studies to GCSE and A level
  • Committed to enhancing the spiritual and pastoral life of the school
  • Prepared to combine teaching with Chaplaincy work
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Flexible in outlook and attitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Inspirational to both pupils and staff
  • Patient, friendly and approachable

What we can offer:

  • Free school lunches during term time
  • Free on-site parking
  • Support from senior colleagues
  • Motivated and enthusiastic pupils
  • Teachers' Pension Scheme
  • Use of school facilities, e.g. swimming pool
  • A peaceful location on the edge of the city of Oxford
