Job overview

  • Are you an OUTSTANDING teacher?
  • Can you MOTIVATE, CHALLENGE and INSPIRE?
  • Do you want to work in an environment that supports you to be the best you can be?
  • Do you want to work in a school with unparalleled care, guidance and support?

If the answer to these questions is YES then we can offer you an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join our Science Department.

There has never been a better time to join Lostock College. Our Science department has a history of excellent results, and we are proud to enter pupils for the Triple Science course, as well as Core and Additional qualifications. Whilst knowledge of teaching the three disciplines is an advantage, full training will be given to the successful candidate. You should have experience of teaching Science across Key Stage Three and Four, and familiarity with the new curriculum across both key stages is desirable for this position.

Lostock College is gaining a reputation for excellence in education and we have become a first choice school for parents in the local area. We want all of our students to achieve their potential and we make sure that there are no limitations or barriers to reaching the highest possible standards of academic, social and personal development. In 2014 we became the Most Improved School in Trafford and we are keen to maintain that title. Lostock College is the only Church of England Affiliated School in Trafford and is a key partner in the Alliance for Learning Teaching School (lead by Altrincham Grammar School for Girls).

We have a hugely talented and committed staff team who make sure that our curriculum, guidance, care and support meets the different needs of every young person, and we pride ourselves on having high expectations. Our students are well organised, supportive of each other and keen to do well.

We seek to appoint an outstanding teacher with the potential to be a dynamic leader to further develop our highly successful and highly regarded Science department. For the right candidate, a TLR is available, and responsibilities may include managing the curriculum and resources of a key stage, leading departmental improvement, heading student intervention programmes and contributing to our school-wide projects. This post would be ideal preparation for a future department leadership position.

You may be a new teacher or an experienced one, and we will be looking for commitment to improving life chances for young people, as well as commitment to your own professional development. You will be well supported by the Senior Leadership Team who are focused on teaching and learning, and by a comprehensive programme of induction and training to ensure your individual needs are met. Our school is a lively and exciting place to work. We truly live by our motto of Inspire, Transform, Succeed.

We are totally dedicated to providing the very best opportunities for our students to ensure that we inspire confidence, transform learning and succeed to compete with the best.
