The College is seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and hardworking teacher to join the highly successful and expanding Sport Department on a temporary basis, in the first instance. The successful applicant will be required to teach BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 Sport. However, the ability to offer BTEC Public Services would be an advantage.
The full or part-time, fixed-term post is available from 1 September 2019 until 3 July 2020, in the first instance.
Our ideal person will be able to demonstrate a track record of success in delivering the highest standards and achieving outstanding results. The post holder must be confident in the use of Information Technology in all aspects of their work.
The post would equally suit an experienced or newly qualified teacher.
The Department is housed in the purpose-built Sports Centre. The complex includes a large Sports Hall, smaller Sports Hall and Gym. All classrooms are fully equipped with data projectors, white boards, Wi-Fi and desktop computers. The Department has access to mobile learning devices to further enhance learning.
The Department also has access to Tennis Courts on site and three Football pitches and a Rugby pitch off-site at the College’s local playing fields. The College firmly believes in promoting sporting opportunities to students and attracts students who represent their county and country at various sports including: gymnastics, badminton, swimming, martial arts, golf and futsal. The College has a number of sports teams including: men’s football, women’s football, netball, hockey, men’s rugby, women’s rugby and basketball.
The Department teaches in a collaborative style, with all staff contributing to centralised resource packs. Students regularly progress onto university courses for PE, Sport, Sports Management, Sports Development, Coaching and Teaching.
The Department has eleven other members of teaching staff who work closely as a team in a friendly and co-operative manner. Strong emphasis is given to mutual support by the exchange of ideas and materials. The Department also has access to an experienced technician who provides support across the courses.
The Department offers BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 Sport, BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 Public Services, Level 2 Community Sports Leadership, Level 2 Fitness Instructing (Gym Based Exercise) and Level 3 Personal Training.
All of the course grades are consistently high with 95% of BTEC Sport students achieving Distinction* and Distinction grades last year (100% D*-M).
The salary for this post is up to £40,092 per annum (FTE).
