About Corby Technical School and the Teaching Assistant role
Corby Technical School is a free school that opened in September 2012. The school was rated as Outstanding in our Ofsted inspection, and we would be looking to employ a person who shares our aspirations for excellence.
Corby Technical School requires a suitably qualified and committed Level 2 Teaching Assistant to assist children with a variety of special educational needs in a mainstream school. The post holder will be expected to support students with a variety of needs including, language, physical and educational. The primary focus is to undertake educational activities with students within an agreed framework under the overall direction and supervision of a qualified teacher. We would be delighted to receive applications from all candidates with a desire to work with young people including those who may have recently completed their A-level studies or degree course and are considering a future career in teaching.
The successful candidate will support students of SEND and/or EAL through the delivery of supportive learning activities in the classroom, that will enhance and compliment the delivery of curriculum materials by the class teacher. This may be through the development of suitable differentiated materials; scaffolding questioning and tasks to promote success; supporting and challenging student behaviours and maintaining regular communication between school and home. The candidate will work with students that have Educational Health Care plan or with a high level of need, fostering student’s confidence, self-esteem and ambition to become independent inquirers and thinkers. Additionally, supporting students in all four areas of need through the delivery of intervention programmes outside of the classroom where required. The candidate would be expected to contribute to the monitoring of SEND students to set clear ambitious targets for students to achieve and make progress personal and academic progress. The candidate will need to show the capacity to be an advocate for SEND students, ensuring that they promote an inclusive learning environment for all.

The successful candidate will:
· Work closely with colleagues across the School, building effective relationships with all staff and students.
· Have good knowledge of a broad range of additional needs and/or behaviours that students may have/present and strategies for supporting appropriately.
· Sound knowledge of general school procedures in order to contribute to effective running of school day and student experiences and also procedures to support child development.
- Have good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
- Have the ability to deal professionally and sensitively with children, parents and teachers and outside agencies as required.
· Work with the utmost integrity and confidentiality.
