Teaching Fellow

Goresbrook School

Contract type: FTE

Hours: 37.5

Salary: UQT

Do you want to be part of a team that transform the lives of young people?

At Goresbrook School – a place that thrives on bringing the best out of every pupil – we’re committed to bringing our subjects to life. Quite simply, we employ staff who are excited by the subjects they’re teaching. And in turn, we support their career aspirations as they progress. That’s why we’re so delighted to be recruiting for a recent graduate who would like to get some experience in a school environment with the opportunity to embark on their teacher training with us the following year.

In this varied role, you will therefore teach a high standard of subjects and provide support in various departments. Leading groups with the teachers – from lesson planning right through to the delivery of your sessions and subsequent homework and assessment – you will also work individually with pupils who need extra one-on-one attention. As you won’t be teaching a full timetable, you will also be involved in other aspects of school life – from supervising out-of-school activities and leading after school clubs to covering lessons for colleagues, this is a multi-faceted role that will keep you on your toes.

This is a fantastic way to get the experience you need to really prepare for teacher training if you ultimately choose to follow that path. As a result, you will need fantastic time-management, IT and communication skills, which will be fully utilised during your interactions with pupils and any feedback on lessons and their behaviour.

With a first or second class degree, you will combine your energy and enthusiasm to really promote our ‘no excuses’ culture, helping us to fully achieve our ambitions to drive student success.

We currently have 360 students, years 7, 8, 9 and 10. In September 2019, we will have 480 pupils.  We will continue to grow each year until we are at full capacity, 720 students including our Sixth Form. Whether you are an outstanding experienced pastoral practitioner looking for a new challenge, or someone seeking your first role in education, you will play a key part in the school’s development.  You could play a part in leading and shaping the vision and future of our school for many years to come.

If you want to work in an environment where you will really make a difference, Goresbrook is for you.  If our core values resonate with you, and you enjoy a fast-paced environment that celebrates hard work and success, then you will love working here.

You are very welcome to visit us, even if you don’t end up applying for the post. We are 20 minutes on the tube from Mile End, and just 15 minutes’ drive from East London.
