GEMS Founders Al Mizhar School is a new value for money National Curriculum of England School opening in September 2018 modelled on the highly successful GEMS Founders Dubai School. Initially it will educate students from FS1 to Year 8 and will build to a full FS to Year 13 School of 4800 students in subsequent years.

The school will have a focus on high academic standards, computational thinking, social and emotional Education as well as inclusivity to allow all students to succeed through a range of academic and vocational pathways.

Alongside well-equipped classrooms, the school will have good sports provision, large open plan learning areas to support innovation and creative problem solving including robotics and 3D printing, a drama/dance studio, specialist music rooms, full WiFi coverage, dedicated science labs, art rooms and libraries.

FS students will have access to attractive indoor and outdoor learning areas. All classrooms will be equipped with large LCD screens to enhance student learning.

The school will follow the National Curriculum for England, offering IGCSE, AS and A level courses in the future as well as a range of vocational pathways.

The Post; Whole School Vice Principal - Student achievement, curriculum and assessment

We are looking for an outstanding Vice Principal to join our team. The successful applicant will ideally start Early 2018 but will need to be in post by September 2018 at the latest.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the schools Vision and Mission, GEMS core values as well as all policies and practices.

The post holder will deputise for the Principal as required and assist in shaping & implementing the educational strategy for the school.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Embracing and encouraging the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
  • Leading on curriculum and its adaptation to meet the needs of all students across the whole school and in particular taking the lead on PS 4 of the UAE Unified framework. This will include leading on the design of a project based curriculum around computational thinking and integrated learning to compliment the NCfE.
  • Leading on student achievement and assessment across the school and in particular lead on PS 1 of the UAE Unified framework
  • Leading on Performance Management and Performance Development Plans.
  • Overseeing and ensuring high standards across all MoE subjects
  • Managing budgets and undertake teaching and other professional duties as reasonably delegated by the Principal.

To be considered for this role, candidates must:

  • Be an effective and dynamic leader with a proven track record in school improvement that can be demonstrated through hard data.
  • Be rigorous in promoting excellence and developing commitment to high standards of care and opportunities for all.
  • Be able to demonstrate successful experience of leading and managing staff including promoting and developing innovative approaches to learning
  • Be able to demonstrate a comprehensive and confident knowledge of student achievement, curriculum and assessment from FS to Y13 or a significant age range span including, as a desirable requirement, knowledge of computational thinking and vocational pathways.
  • Be able to demonstrate genuine passion towards the wider co-curricular life of a school.
