Wellbeing and Innovation Coordinator for Primary for August 2021

We are looking for a Wellbeing and Innovation Coordinator for our Primary School for August 2021. This role will have a significantly reduced teaching load.

The Wellbeing and Innovation Coordinator is a key member of the Primary Leadership Team (PLT) and will take responsibility for overseeing the provision of high-quality wellbeing policy and protocol, assuming responsibility for the enrichment of student life for the primary school. 

Duties/responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Work with the PLT to: 

• Promote and enhance the well-being of students

• Ensure the school promotes international mindedness

• Develop school improvement through self-study for school inspection and authorization processes i.e., KHDA, IB, CIS

• Develop and implement policies and practices reflecting the school’s commitment to high standards i.e., KHDA, IB, CIS

• Share expertise and bring positive benefits to the school by working with outside agencies and stakeholders including other schools and organizations 

• Support the review and implementation of subject development


Work with the PLT and Primary School Counsellor to: 

• Support new staff with understanding, policies and procedures for student wellbeing

• Review, enhance and implement behavior and wellbeing policies

• Collaborate with the inclusion department to implement pupil passports in support of student behaviour and wellbeing by supporting coordinators, teachers, students and parents 

• Work as a point of contact for members of the school community with wellbeing concerns in line with school communication and behaviour structures. 

• Monitor tracking of student well-being through iSAMs, ensuring punctual follow up on action plans and clear communication

• Work with the student council to promote student voice and agency

• Collaborate as part of school’s leadership team to support student transition from Early Years to Primary Years and Primary Years to Secondary School 


• Communicate and implement absence protocol and organizing cover for staff who are absent

• Create and implement supervision duty schedules for staff that represents a fair distribution of contact time with students

• Work with the facilities team and Grade Coordinators to implement routines and procedures in the school canteen 

• Coordinate with the leadership and admissions team to establish and communicate class lists

• Collaborate with EY and Secondary Deputies to align the schedule and communication of conferences to teachers, parents and students 

• Ensure clear communication and understanding of all school events in advance to the Primary School community

• Support the organisation and logistics of whole school and primary specific events

Teaching and Learning: 

Work with the PLT team to 

• Support the PYP coordinator in developing a shared understanding and vision for outstanding teaching and learning

• Enhance the quality of teaching and learning according to the IBPYP and KHDA DSIB standards through mentoring, modelling, team teaching, implementing action plans, observing, consulting and providing regular and personalized feedback resulting in tangible impact on student learning and progress

• Support teachers with implementing action plans through an inquiry-based appraisal process

• Coordinate regular community assemblies as a platform for promoting students learning and appreciating student action

Assessment Support: 

• Work in collaboration with the leadership team to implement an assessment policy reflecting expectations of the program

• Work with the leadership team to analyze and synthesize progress and attainment data


• Work alongside teachers to enhance the integration of Innovation into their classrooms

• Provide professional development opportunities to teachers on the integration of Innovation into teaching and learning

• Lead PY Innovation curriculum development, with a particular focus on IB STEAM

• Support teachers to enhance the engagement with the parent community through technology 

• Promote innovation programmes at the school (e.g. speaking at conferences) 

• Conduct data collection related to the quantity and quality of technology use in the school

• Provide parent-training sessions on a range of Innovation topics

• Work with the school’s IT department to ensure IT systems, software and platforms are fully utilised in classrooms

• Plan, develop, communicate, implement and evaluate the school’s technology vision and policies for the high-quality and integrated use of technology in teaching and learning

• be fully qualified and experienced Primary Class Teacher with a Bachelor in Education Degree and Professional Teaching Qualification

• have a proven track record of delivering outstanding teaching and learning

• have a proven track record of middle leadership in currently having been a subject or grade coordinator or equivalent role
