We are proud to be the only not-for-profit, COBIS Accredited, British school in Salalah providing high quality education to children aged 3-18. We teach the National Curriculum for England which is enhanced by a diverse enrichment programme that inspires our students to develop their passions and explore and discover Oman’s beautiful mountains, wadis, deserts and coast. Students are taught in small classes by excellent and enthusiastic teachers in well-resourced classrooms. Students are supported to develop their leadership skills and encouraged to become active global citizens.

Requirements:  

  • BA in Education or BA Degree with PGCE    
  • Experience teaching the English National Curriculum    
  • Previous experience working with students whom English is not their first language    
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child    
  • A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children    
  • Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities    
  • Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnic background    
  • A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life    
  • Fluent English speaker


The successful candidate should be able to plan learning opportunities and create an enabling environment that supports excellent student outcomes. You must possess energy and enthusiasm to deliver lessons that engage, enthuse and motivate our learners.

British School Salalah (BSS) is an expanding and delightful school on the shores of the Arabian Sea.  It was founded in 1970 based in a small hut on the beach. It moved to a villa in Salalah town in 1977 and then on to its present site in 1980.  BSS is the only British National Curriculum school in Salalah and is a member of the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME). It has recently been recognised as a COBIS Member and is looking to achieve COBIS Accreditation this academic year.

The Dhofar region is experiencing a period of unprecedented economic growth and investment, particularly in the tourist sector.
