Exeter Junior School  is an academically selective co-educational school for children aged 7-11 years. Expectations of pupils’ achievement are high and the majority progress to the senior school. There are strong links with the senior school; many facilities and resources are shared to mutual benefit.

Pupils are taught in form groups with Form Tutors teaching at least one core subject to their Form. As well as its high academic standards, Exeter School is particularly recognised for the excellence of its Drama, Music, Art and Sport, and offers a wide ranging extra-curricular programme to support these and other areas of learning.

Exeter Junior School has a two form entry for the Year 4 cohort. We recognise that the Junior School years constitute a highly significant phase for our pupils which lays the foundations for future success at Exeter School. The appointed candidate is expected to support pupils and their parents seamlessly through their school life enabling pupils to realise their full potential. 

The successful candidate will be an inspirational classroom teacher. They will have a passion for teaching, being innovative and creative in their development of the teaching and learning for our pupils.

The Year 4 Form Tutor will be responsible for pastoral care of the pupils in their Form. The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.

There is a dynamic and experienced staff at Exeter Junior School and the successful appointee will be a confident and effective communicator willing to work with and contribute to this established and successful team. They will have an expertise and interest in, or recent successful experience of, teaching a core subject and possess an enthusiasm and interest in the teaching of Games. The appointee will be aware of current uses of technology and, conversant in the ways it might be used to complement and enhance teaching and learning opportunities for our pupils. A subject leadership role, depending on school requirements and candidate experience, will be discussed at interview.

The extracurricular programme at Exeter Junior School is considered a strength and the newly appointed Year 4 Tutor will be expected to actively contribute to the high quality games and extracurricular provision.
