A book written by two Aberdeen University professors has won this year’s Special Educational Needs Academic Book Award, run by the charity Nasen in association with The Times Educational Supplement.

Achievement and Inclusion in Schools, published by Routledge, was co-authored by Lani Florian and Martyn Rouse along with Cambridge University’s Kristine Black-Hawkins. It argues that inclusion and academic achievement are not incompatible and looks at how to make both happen.

The book was praised for its comprehensive coverage, for being conceptually innovative, and for clear guidance on how to improve practice in schools for the benefit of all children.
