A teacher has been awarded Pounds 114,000 damages after suffering a brain haemorrhage following an attack by a14-year-old pupil.
Margaret Chambers, who taught English and French at Ansford community school in Castle Cary, Somerset, developed epilepsy after a basketball was thrown at her head.
She had earlier reprimanded the boy for vandalising gas cylinders during a break in lessons. No criminal proceedings were brought against the pupil over the incident, which occurred in 1989.
