A National Youth Choir of Scotland is being launched this summer with plans for performances in Inverness, Aberdeen and Perth in July, Neil Butterworth writes. The choir has been invited to participate in the National Association of Youth Orchestras’ festival the following month in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Membership of the 100-strong choir will be open to singers born, resident or studying in Scotland aged between 16 and 24.
Auditions will be held across the country later this month and next, and the first project is a residential course in Perthshire from July 8-14 under the direction of Christopher Bell, conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Chorus and Junior Chorus and director of the Total Aberdeen Youth Choir.
