Historic Scotland, Constructionskills and the Scottish Qualifications Authority have formed a four-year partnership aimed at tackling the skills gaps in the traditional building sector.
Nearly half of Scotland’s construction activity relates to repair and maintenance, but gaps remain in the availability of a broad range of traditional building skills. The first task for the partnership will be to identify those gaps in knowledge. It will then ensure that qualifications and professional development courses are in place to improve the conservation, maintenance and repair of traditionally constructed buildings in Scotland.
