Even primary school children are aware of both illegal drugs and substance misuse, according to new guidelines from the National Association of Headteachers. They urge primary teachers to be in the classroom of drug abuse issues. The average age of first misuse of drugs is falling, and the range of drugs is expanding The guidelines recommend expulsion only after repeated drug offences in school, and advocate always calling the police, even when the school has no legal obligation to do so.
