Parents of children at an Inverclyde primary - surgeons, nurses, engineers and firemen - spent last week introducing pupils to the world of work.
The week-long event at Wemyss Bay Primary began last Monday with a business breakfast. It was then over to the parents and local businesses to get the projects underway.
P1‘s emergency services project was kicked off by husband and wife team Jane and Stephen Lyne - a policewoman and firefighter. Meanwhile, in P7, structural engineer Gerard Robertson, who has twin girls in P2, and engineer Jenny Hamilton, who has a daughter in P6, began a bridge-building project.
Tesco led a P6 project about setting up your own business, and the owners of local eatery Bongio spoke to P4 about running a restaurant.
Pupils also had the opportunity to meet a wide range of people who visited the school to talk about their jobs. And last Wednesday, a “speed dating” event took place in the hall, where pupils grilled visitors - including many more parents - about their jobs.
The main aim of the week was to introduce pupils of all ages to different jobs and careers and make them aware of the skills used in those jobs.
