Scotland’s FE minister has sent a good-luck message to the young people in Team UK who are due to compete in the EuroSkills competition in Budapest this week.

In the video message, Richard Lochhead, who was appointed FE, HE and science minister in August, says the EuroSkills competition “is a great showcase for the professional and technical skills within Scotland’s colleges”.

“I really want to congratulate Scotland’s four participants, Callum, Nicolle, Ross and Mark for showing the determination to take part in what will be, of course, a very competitive environment,” says Lochhead.

“But it is all about showcasing their skills and skills being developed in Scotland’s further education sector, so I wish them the best of luck in this competition - they have achieved a lot getting there, so well done to you all, and best of luck.”

EuroSkills 2018 in Budapest is due to kick off this evening with the opening ceremony, before three days of competition begin tomorrow morning.

Team UK’s 22 competitors have gone through months of training and beaten hundreds of competitors en route in regional and national skill competitions.
