NATIONAL VEG OUT WEEK

Following research by the University of Wales and Birds Eye indicating that children can learn to love vegetables, Birds Eye has launched a nationwide programme for five to seven-year-olds supported by a free education pack and video. The pack tells how the Veg Out Rangers and their fearless leader Mighty Veg save the nation by eating more vegetables and fruit. There is also a free pack for parents to use with children at home. A series of public lectures is being run at The School of Oriental and African Studies, London WC1, 5pm. The first, on “Musical instruments as speech surrogates in Yunnan, China”, will be given by Yang Xian-Ming, formerly of the Music Research Institute.
