Gerard Kelly has completely missed the point of the “granny cloud” (“Tech without teachers is cloud cuckoo land”, Editorial, 12 July”). Sugata Mitra’s “grannies” demonstrate qualities of the very best coaching teachers - full attention, active listening, clarifying questioning and lots of encouragement. Not a replacement for teachers but a complementary way of developing independent, confident and creative learners.
