Oliver Brunner, 37, planned his two-bedroom dream home in St Gallen on software he picked up for about pound;7. He drafted in the help of colleague Olaf Aerne, a landscape gardener, to create the meisterwerk.
“We bought the Baudesigner 6.5 application on a whim for EUR10 from a German hardware store,” said Mr Brunner.
Jealous locals have been champing at the bit to know how he built the unique home with such Germanic efficiency.
But their enthusiasm prompted sniping from August Everle, a local architect, who warned: “Laymen lack the necessary background to use architectural software correctly and deliver good results.”
Lucky he was a teacher, then.
