Bag a book

You’ve read what Estelle Morris and the School Teachers’ Review Body have to say about workload (TES, May 10), and The Issue section in next week’s Friday magazine will be devoted to this ever-pressing topic.

Rather than wait for reforms to give teachers more time to teach, you might want to do something to stem your personal tide of exhaustion. Tired of Being Tired, a new book from the United States, recognises stress, leading to “adrenal burnout”, as the enemy of the high-achiever. The authors address ways of combatting stress and increasing energy through adjusting food, exercise and sleep patterns. They argue that the key is to take time to “rescue, repair and rejuvenate” your exhausted nervous system.

Publisher Michael Joseph is offering Friday readers 15 copies of Tired of Being Tired by Dr Jesse Lynn Hanley and Nancy Deville, worth pound;9.99 each.

Write your name and address on the back of a postcard and send it to arrive by May 24 to: Tired of Being Tired offer, Amelia King, Promotions Department, 66-68 East Smithfield, London E1W 1BX.* Take the biscuit
