I found Estelle Morris statement “How can we build the morale of teachers nationally if they are denied rewards for good performance by their own heads?” (March 5) absolutely astonishing.
The audacity of the education secretary laying blame on heads defies belief. With their tightly managed budgets already wrung dry, and all of us gallantly trying to continue to raise standards, how can heads be expected to dig into their inadequate purses to pay gifted and deserving colleagues?
