It’s not what you say, it’s the way you say it - even when how you say it is your business. The truth of the old adage was well illustrated in a Lothian primary which had acquired the services of a new specialist teacher.

In one respect only was she a disappointment to her new charges: several weeks on and she still hadn’t arranged an outing to the seaside.

“The seaside?” enquired the teacher.

“Well, you’re supposed to be a beach therapist, aren’t you?” came the reply.
