Walk through 2,000 years of English history in two days at English Heritage’s festival of history, held at Kelmarsh Hall in Northampton, on August 11 and 12.

You can see re-enactments of 12th to 18th-century battles. You can also walk along an 18th century-style street to meet craftsmen and other civilians of the time, then suddenly find yourself caught in a barrage of chaos as the Battle of Kelmarsh is re-enacted.

And a walk-through interactive trench experience will show you how harsh First World War conditions really were.
