General Feeling: Nothing much has changed. All the major topics are still there, with perhaps more of an emphasis on maths in context and across other subject areas than before. There is a general lack of any meaningful detail, suggesting that the curriculum can be interpreted any way you like. Hear my thoughts in this special podcast about national curriculum reform in maths. Key Points: “Inside and outside mathematics” gets mentioned lots: It seems to be building in functional and contextual maths: Such vagueness can lead to an over reaction: The old “Using and Appling”, and “Calculating” has been replaced by “develop fluency, reason mathematically, and solve problems”: Some bits sound different, but hard to know what they mean: Some bits that I cannot believe are still there:
