No places to go with geography

I have had my heart set on the primary teaching profession for many years now. I am a qualified swimming teacher, a children’s fitness instructor (I lead 30 children for PE on an after-school basis) and a youth leader. I have also spent the whole of my university career helping in a primary school on a weekly basis working with all year groups in all curricular subjects. I was also asked to help with swimming, netball and gymnastics clubs.
If this is not the commitment that the postgraduate certificate in education course requires prior to application, what do they want?
I have been rejected by my first choice and am now currently awaiting a response from my second.
Prior to starting my degree, I was told that geography would gain me entry into a PGCE (primary).
Never, have I felt so disheartened. Is there not a PGCE place for people with average academic ability who dedicate so much commitment?
