We would like to think it was Oddly Enough that inspired the schools scheme “Oddly Educational”, developed for Ripley’s Believe It or Not! - the new London attraction.

The museum, in Piccadilly, has more than 800 curios, including a two-headed calf, shrunken heads from Ecuador, a sweater worn by Marilyn Monroe and - perhaps most impressively of all - a portrait of Princess Diana made of laundry lint from a clothes dryer.

How these items are linked to the curriculum is not clear, but dozens of teachers were due to attend a special event at the museum last night.

Jo Whiteley, the gallery’s education officer, said: “We’re recommending the attraction to anyone teaching humanities, art and design, history, English, PSHE or geography.” So that narrows it down.
