THE nightmare began when the dreaded Ofsted team arrived at Downs infants’

school in Brighton, last Monday.

Shortly afterwards, head Regine Kruger got a phone call from Her Majesty’s Inspectorate wanting to send somone to inspect the inspectors. She reluctantly accepted.

But the next day, Regine received a call from Full Circle, the contracting firm providing the Ofsted team, asking if it could send a team to inspect the inspectors who were (keep up) of course already being inspected. They also told her that Her Majesty’s Inspectorate wanted to send another inspector - to inspect their inspector inspecting the inspectors who were inspecting the teachers. “It was at that point that I started screaming,” says Regine. Mercifully, the HMIs and Full Circle decided to back off.
