The Hertfordshire youngsters raised pound;286.46 before the half-term holiday by making a tail of loose change for a kite - the appeal’s symbol - which was painted on the school playground.

Half-term marks half-way in the campaign. So far pound;80,000 has been donated to transform hundreds of schools and thousands of young lives.
