National, local, in-service and commercial materials can be collected and catalogued, but what is important is how they fit into your school or department’s dance programme. An overview of dance development at each stage is needed to see where and how they can best be used.

In all schools there are individuals who have strengths and expertise in areas of the creative and expressive arts; visiting specialists can augment this and staff development foster it. One member of staff can become the focus for a group to create a dance programme with the resources available and plan how it can be implemented by each stage. Other teachers should then be able to use them throughout the school.
