Following the furore about the demise of history, or “2006 and all that”, as it might be called, we hear the General Teaching Council for Scotland has gone a step further by erasing modern studies from the secondary curriculum.
Its house mag, Teaching Scotland, lists all the subjects in which you can gain professional recognition, anything from art and design through to sociology. But, sadly, no modern studies.
It states proudly in another section: “You can trust what you read in Teaching Scotland”. So farewell then, modern studies?
