CHOCOLATE IS NO BAR TO LEARNING

Check out the learning zone on Cadbury’s website for an excellent case study on Fuse, a new confectionery bar. There is a complete marketing plan for the new product, including competition analysis of the UK’s top-selling brands and a breakdown of the snack market - almost pound;10 billion of biscuits, crisps and ice cream. The study looks at consumer testing, pack design, brand name and launch strategy. There are also role-play exercises on being a brand manager and teamwork to develop marketing campaigns. www.cadbury.co.uk

MONEY MATTERS GET PERSONAL

Personal finance is now part of the curriculum in PSHE, citizenship and business studies, but it is a complex area that needs up-to-date materials and an imaginative approach to bring it to life. Supported by the Financial Services Authority, the QCA and the DFES as well as leading banks and insurance companies, Personal Finance Education Group is running its Excellence and Access project in 400 schools in 40 local education authorities. Materials are quality assured, as is its support and training for teachers. The website lists teaching resources by age and key stage as well as case studies and tried and tested lesson plans. Resources can be ordered via the website. Tel: 020 7220 1735; www.pfeg.org
