The Prime Minister and the leaders of the two main opposition parties have backed a competition to produce the next generation of parliamentary debaters.

Schools are invited to stage and film their own House of Commons debate for the Motorola Youth Parliament Competition, organised by the Citizenship Foundation.

Pupils are asked to submit a 20-minute video showing five minutes of Prime Minister’s question time (or questions to a secretary of state) and a 15-minute debate on a topical issue.

Schools must register their interest by Christmas. For details, contact Mary Domanska at the Citizenship Foundation on 0171 929 3344.
