Victims are most likely to be between the ages of nine and 11 with girls being on the receiving end in 36 per cent of cases.
The number of incidents that involve staff, parents and school visitor as victims is small but causes concern, the authority says.
In the six months from January to June, the city recorded 209 incidents, 113 of which were intentional racism.
Name calling accounts for 76 per cent of recorded racism. “This remains a serious issue, particularly as there are strong indications that some young people simply accept name calling. This cannot be tolerated,” it maintains.
