Reader Offer - Attenborough Masterclass

https://www.tes.com/magazine/archive/reader-offer-attenborough-masterclass

The TES Magazine is offering readers a unique masterclass with Lord Richard Attenborough, the colossus of the British film industry.

The money-can’t-buy intimate event will explore Lord Attenborough’s acclaimed work as an award-winning actor, director and producer. It promises to give teachers of all subjects a once in a lifetime insight into how they can use film and creative media across the curriculum. Also in the audience will be film, drama, performance, and production students.

“Dickie is a genius,” says Andy Dougan, author and lecturer at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) in Glasgow, who will host the masterclass. “He is a marvelous actor and a superb director and, for a long period, held the British film industry together almost single-handed. He is an inspiring figure and I hope that RSAMD students and the teachers who are coming along will benefit from that inspiration.”

Lord Attenborough’s film career began in 1942 when he played a deserting sailor in In Which We Serve. Since then, he has gone on to win four Bafta awards, three Golden Globes and two Academy Awards.

The masterclass will be held at the Academy in Glasgow on November 20 at 3pm. The event will be recorded for broadcast and edited into a half-hour DVD. It is hoped that, dependent on funding, this will become available to all Scottish schools. Podcasts from the workshop will also be made available on the Film Education website, www.filmeducation.org.

Together with Film Education, The TES Magazine has an exclusive 20 tickets to give away. To be in with a chance of winning, send your name, name of school and phone number to masterclass@tes.co.uk by next Friday, October 24.

Winners will be notified by October 31. This offer does not include any travel costs.
