More colleges are sliding into the red, according to latest forecasts from the Further Education Funding Council.
Latest figures show 56 per cent of colleges are financially vulnerable or weak, compared with 54 per cent last year. Fifty five colleges have been in a weak position for a year or more, although funding chiefs say only eight gave cause for concern. Full figures on colleges’ financial health are due later this year.
