Reform of principal teacher posts has been “a cost-cutting shambles”, Alan Taylor, North Lanarkshire, said. It was never part of the post-McCrone agreement and is damaging quality in secondaries.
Mr Taylor said heads of curriculum were being put in charge of unrealistically diverse departments - maths and home economics, PSE art PE and CDT, and his personal favourite, “PT of the top floor”, an amalgam of maths, art and geography.
