Spending on school buildings by Welsh local authorities during 2007-08 was the lowest of all council services, according to figures released by the Assembly government. They show 17 per cent - or Pounds 190 million - of the total capital expenditure of Pounds 1,146 million, equivalent to Pounds 385 per head of the Welsh population, was spent on education.
