Councillors in Swansea look set to reprieve a closure-threatened secondary school. Dylan Thomas was expected to close, with pupils transferring to Bishop Gore school. But Cabinet member Mike Day said a proposed two-year transition phase would cause too much disruption to their education.

Further consultations on surplus places are planned.
