Jotter has learnt of a west of Scotland teacher and former Labour activist who had an innocent meeting many years ago with Sam Galbraith, long before his rise to ministerial power.
Our teacher friend first met the Health and Children’s Minister before the start of a 14-mile race at a Highland games. They were both doing what most keen distance runners do at that point, making sure they did not get caught short during the race.
But, in the present climate of night walks on Clapham Common and outings on television, a reintroduction could be tricky. It would hardly do to approach a Minister of the Crown with a hearty: “Remember me? We met in the gents’ toilets at Hannah Park, Shotts.”
