I agree with both Claire Fox (“Don’t let value-mongers hijack the classroom”, Comment, 7 December) and Chloe Combi (“Yoga and Latin? Give them a break”, Comment, 14 December). It doesn’t matter what pupils think; what matters is that they do. Certainly, no teacher has any right to discipline a pupil for expressing an opinion, no matter how at variance it may be with their own. I love my country and loathe those in authority. To me, a tiger mother is an unfit mother. Ms Combi’s pupil with the lead role in the school play and disapproving parents reminds me of the film Dead Poets Society. I only hope that things don’t end in the same way.
