Schools should eschew church campaign

https://www.tes.com/magazine/archive/schools-should-eschew-church-campaign

As a gay man who was raised in the Roman Catholic Church and attended Catholic schools, I am saddened that the Church’s campaign has made its way into its schools (“Anti-gay-marriage letter branded ‘disgraceful’”, TES, 27 April). As a trainee teacher, I am well aware of the power teachers have to shape the ideas of the young. I believe it is irresponsible to present ideas against equality to pupils in this way. I only hope common sense will prevail, with schools choosing not to peddle the Church’s campaign.
